VW Iphone 4s bluetooth connection drop problem, is there a solution or do apple not care

Many people are finding their Iphone 4S drops connection with their VW (Passat etc) integrated bluetooth hands free system after working fine for 5, 10, 20 minutes. The only way to reconnect is to switch the car off or turn the Iphone bluetooth off & back on.

This is a dangerous fault and it appears that both Apple & VW have no solution (or are ignoring as they have already sold you a phone & a car).

I have the iPhone 4S and a 2011 VW Passat. And I have the same issue as all you guys.

Is there anyone who have the same problem with iPhone 5 in the pre 2012 VWs? I think the question has already been asked, bud I don't seem to find any answers.

My wife is getting more and more annoyed at me missing her calls. I tell her that we need to buy a new more expensive car. But she is not that easily fooled, so I'm going for a new phone instead. If my VW 2011 will work fine with a iPhone 5 I'll go for that (who knows if 5S is going to work...). If not, something else...

I have an identical problem using my iphone 4s on IOS 6.1.3, i have even had My local Volkswagen dealer completely change my bluetooth module under my drivers seat.

Recently i spoke with Volkswagen Customer services regarding this issue, they say that the Iphone 4s, is apparently compatible with my bluetooth module (Part Number 5K0 035 730J),however when testing the two together they stated there were several issues including the problems we are experiencing.

I asked the advisor if Volkswagen were going to do anything to solve this issue, to which they stated in a very polite manner, no.

The issue lies with Apple, as to whether the next software update will solve any issues, personaly i don't think so.

i read on another forum that getting a Bluetooth module fitted to the car from a later model (for example 2013 onwards), which has the latest software. This appears to be a costly process, some in the region of £600, and still VW won't guarantee that this will work, and they will offer no warranty with this.

How can we solve this issue, not sure buying a iphone 5 will solve the issue, as the iphone 4s and iphone 5 have bluetooth 4, whereas the VW cars pre 2012 have bluetooth modules only capable of handling bluetooth 2.1, for which i belive the iphone 4 has.

Any body have any advice on this please???

Dear All..

Same IPhone 4s Problem.. Phone connecting/Disconnecting no music stream.

Volkswagen service centre could not help me They wanted to replace my (1K8 035 730 C) Bluetooth unit for another one.. Then we tried to connect to a brand new car in the showroom and it would still not stay connected…

The Apple Store and Genius Bar geeks did not know what the problem could be.. Everything worked as it should.. They pointed me back to the VW Dealer.

Today I have learned the most simple solution to our common problem.

I own an IPhone 4S (IOS 6.1.3) which had the following name: Kris Surname Dutch IPhone 4S

The Bluetooth connected and disconnected all the time with no chance in **** that my music would stream..

When you change the name to something short like: KrisIphone4S

!!PROBLEM SOLVED!!

The Bluetooth unit now is able to stay connected and stream music..

Why??? The Bluetooth units have a problem with spacing and long names..

(When setting up you IPhone the 1st time it asks how you want to name your phone and gives a suggestion with spaces that is why most people have this problem) (Maybe some new VW Bluetooth units can handle this)

I hope everyone can now enjoy their Bluetooth as they should without having to purchase a new unit or going thru the hassle like the rest of us..

Let me know if it has worked for you!

Kris
