I am getting error 21 while following the recovery process.

Dear All, I have an iPhone 4 that was functioning normally until Thursday evening. On Thursday evening the phone battery got exhausted and so I put it on charge. After sometime I noticed a gray screen with iPhone written on it. This was a new screen never saw it before. Upon unlocking the screen I got another new screen which said connect to iTunes. So, I connected to iTunes, but it wont detect my iPhone now.

I tried to put my iPhone in recovery mode as stated in one of the articles on apple support website but got error 21. I tried by disabling anti-virus and windows firewall but it still gives error 21.

Has anyone faced this problem? Any way to solve it?

iPhone 4, Windows XP

Here's what Apple says about that error: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3694#error21

These errors typically occur when security software interferes with the restore and update process. Follow Troubleshooting security software issues to resolve this issue. In rare cases, these errors may be a hardware issue. If the errors persist on another computer, the device may need service.
