Q: MacBook Pro Retina display burn-in?

Please state your panel (LG or Samsung) and whether your panel has IR issues, as well as which of the boxes on that site are "flickering". Thanks!

I have a Samsung screen with no IR issues. I didn't see any flickering in the panels.

I have an LG (no IR) and see no flickering at all.  I even viewed it at native 2880x1800 res but it's obvious the test was not desigend for that high of resolution.  The test boxes are pixelated at native res if zoomed in or they are to small to see detail if not zoomed, my safari window shrinks to about 1/8 of the screen when I switch to native res using setresx.

Can you plz advise us what is your manufacturing week ??

They are absolutely customer-driven, they changed my screens four times... ...at the end I have a good Samsung panel.

I don't know the manufacturing week, but I ordered it online in August (2.6GHz/16GB/512GB) and have had it since early Sept. Only minor fault it has is very minimal yellow tint in lower right screen only noticeable on white or light backgrounds.

Just got my rMBP this week (on Wednesday in fact), and didn't even know any of this was going on.  Of course, I've been going crazy trying to figure out if I really have any of these problems or not with my display.

I've run just about every test that's part of this entire thread, and happy to report (at this point in time) I do not exhibit any of the problems folks are reporting.

No Image Retention - No Ghosting - No floating - No Dead Pixels - No Pixel Walking.....

Again, this is a brand new rMBP.  15" / 8GB / 256GB SSD

Looks like I may (fingers crossed) have gotten the best of the bunch.

LG panel looks flawless, and no yellowish tint as been reported numerous times with the Samsung panel.

Don't know if this is a (fixed) LG panel or not... time will tell....

There are no fixed LG panels

Yup mine was a 48 week build too. Did extensive tests on mine, nothing showed. I also use a cooling fan, yet it still started to produce slight faints of IR after 3.5 weeks of usage. I do have an external monitor too, so u can imagine how often I have pages static

Mine after a month of use and LG screen ( week 45)  is ok.

Little bit OT but I heared a noise from the left side of my Macbook Pro Retina 15". Is like a very low clatter noise from fan.

It is possible to hear the clatter noise only in a silent condition and placing the ear near the left air holes in slow velocity  fan condition.

When fun rise the velocity is not possible to hear the noise.

Somebody can tel me if is normal?

I wonder if I should just get the 15 inch non retina MacBook Pro with a 1680x1050 gloosy display and a 256GB SSD but I am still really wanting to buy the 15 inch Retina model

Lol @ fan noise im sure its not going to be a problem ....

LG screens are all duds if you havent got any problems yet you will sooner or later so for all the hopfulls out there i hate to burst your bubble.... All the LG macbooks that are sold and not returned due to this issue is because they dont know about it ... they all vary from extreme to slight IR... in most cases you have to look for it and alot of ppl wouldnt untill they found out about it on the internet or though someone else that knows about it .. Many ppl wouldnt reproduce the IR in there day to day use because they dont leave it on the same screen image long enough.. web browsing , checking emails , palying games and then closing the lid .

If its LG its garbage Apple should scrap them altogether ....

My very first plasma screen tv was LG cost me a fortune the thing was garbage from day one had to be repaired numerous times ....

Ive got all samsung tv's , dvd players even my washing machine is samsung .... problems ..... NONE

I really hope this guy is being sarcastic.  I guess ALL rMBP's are garbage because the samsungs have yellow discoloration and duller colors.  Little does he know, LG is a more experienced and reputable display supplier than samsung in computer land.

You cannot be taken serious when you have the grammer of a 5 year old (ie. ppl, there, etc. etc.).

If your screen is LG and has IR or samsung yellow/dull/whatever, it can be fixed or returned.  There are people out there with NO issues from both manufacturers.

I was just stating my experience with LG and the reality of the matter at hand here. It seems like LG are more of a problem than samsung by a mile...even though neither are perfect...

Its a fact LG are worse go read through all 417 pages see how many ppl are having problems with LG over Samsung .

If LG are such a big brand in the IT industry over Samsung i really dont know how.. and with problems like this they should give up and stick to making fridges ! Its the only product from LG ive ever brought that hasnt broken in my personal experience ....

P.S : detroitmikeb i think your the one with the grammar of a 5 year old mate for starters its GRAMMAR not GRAMMER and its not COMPUTER LAND its actually called the IT INDUSTRY  ....
