Not sure if this has been said (there's too many replies to scroll through)... but here's a way I found to multiple select images on your iPad for deletion. In Pictures, tap on edit, then tap and hold a photo briefly with 2 fingers. Don't lift your fingers - just drag to select all the others - and you will see a blue tick appear over each photo you select. Then hit delete.

That works with photos taken with the iPad, copied to via the camera kit or saved from emails/websites, but you can't delete synced photos directly on the iPad
