I have a PowerMac G5 dual 1.8 GHZ. I have an Airport extreme card on order, but I don't thinl that it comes with an external antenna. Can I use the card without the antenna? Do I need an antenna or can I use the card at all?

Whether or not you will have a useable signal is another matter.

I actually ended up getting a package deal with both the card and the antenna from amazon for $60. I should come Wednesday.
For years I've used a wire twist tie from a cable wrapper. It's just a piece of wire with flat plastic molded around it, that twists around a new monitor cable etc. strip the plastic off one end about half an inch, and gently slide it in the antenna port on the G5. I get reliable 10mbs connection, when my ipad in the same location gets about 15mps, so its pretty darn good.
When use the AirPort card on my PowerMac i just take the Alumium door off, just keep the Plastic on, the Wifi Works a lot better with the door off, i always make sure to put the door back on because of the dust build up around the HDD and the SuperDrive.
