if you can use the macbook, here's what you do, go to system preferences, then click on user and group.
once there, click on the plus sign and add your own user name.
make your user name as default.
restart your macbook then login to your user name. go back to system preferences, then click on user and groups, now highlight the school's user name then click on the - sign to delete it.
So you can get into it? The issue here is, even if you can remove the school's name from the login screen, my guess is there are other settings or data that the school put on there that you want removed. The best thing to do is completely wipe all their data off of their so you can officially start using it as your own. Without the install disks, the only other way that I know of is to issue a remote wipe from Find my Mac in iCloud.
yes i am here what i see
on log in screen i see the name of the computer i was able to change that thenunder that it says in bold letters property of school district
then my account name and password
how do you feel about calling apple and ordering the original install disk for your mb?
you can tell them that you want to install it back to factory default.
you might have to pay a few $$ to get those disk. at least you've got them.
figured it out
Did you get the install disks that came with it?
no i been asking for the dvd from the school bu they say they cant find it
It will be harder without the install disk, but are you at least able to get into the account?
on log in screen i see the name of the computer i ws able to change that then it says in bold letters property of school district
then my account name and password
I guess they had someone customized the login screen.
My suggestion is the same as SteveJobsFan. Try and get the install disk to get it back to factory default.
i can log in i just dont want the property of school district on the log in screen
That sounds like a wipe is needed to remove that as the is nothing in System Preferences to remove it.
i found this on youtube.
