SSD upgrade from 256GB to 512GB on 2012 MBA
I am contemplating purchasing a 2012 MBA and am unable to determine whether I should drop the additional $500 for a 512GB SSD. Is the SSD upgradable should I decide to go with the 256GB SSD?

Those devices may fit to replace a hard disk drive with a SATA connection. However, they are not going to work in a Macbook Air (MBA).
Moreover, if my memory is correct. these SATA SDD replacements drives tend to be slower than Apple's native SSDs that are found in their MBA and Macbook Pro systems.
I agree that everyone should max out their RAM at the 8GB for speed reasons. My MBA 2012 with 8GB and i5 processor is faster than my old Mac Pro with Quad 2.8ghz processors. I suspect the 128GB SSD does help speed things up. I only wish I opted for at least the 256GB SSD over the 128GB SSD. After 4 months of use, I am now looking to updgrade the SSD because the data brought over from my old laptop with the 256GB was too much.
