Has anyone announced a FireWire 800 ExpressCard for the MacBook Pro? I have an external hard drive I need to connect to. Also, as a bridge, I could probably use a Firewire 400 to 800 converter. Can someone please direct me to one? I'd be grateful for any links you could supply. Thanks.
MacBook Pro 15", 2.0 GHz,
Mac OS X (10.4.5),
2 GB DDR2 SDRAM
I recently purchased the SIIG FW 800 express card for my mbp. I love it, although it does have a habit of shutting off my drives after about 15 minutes of inactivity -- but I've never had a data loss problem and the speed is phenomenal, especially with daisychained 800 drives!
I've just ordered a SIIG FW800 express card for myself from OWC. It was a bit difficult to find an online store that ships this product to South Africa but OWC are willing (after some verification processes).
Cool! let me know how it works. i'm still hesitant since most of the reviews of the existing expresscards have been poor. however, i am still purchasing the LaCie Rugged All Terrain 80gig for my Macbook pro. I will test HDV editing with it using just the macbook pro firewire 400 port.
