Hello,

My name's Nerys and I work for 123-Reg.

The most common course of your issue is the that authentication for your outgoing mail server is not set correctly.

To do this you will need to edit your SMTP server. Within your email settings, under account information your SMTP server will show. Please click this and select the option to edit the server list. Selecting the 123-Reg SMTP server will open the details for this server.

Within the advance section please ensure that authentication is set to "password" and that you enter your username and password. These will be the same details you have entered for the incoming mail server.

There are two guides available on the 123-Reg support site which may help you with the set up:

If you need any further help please do say and I will be happy to advise.

Regards,

Nerys

Hi ....I have had repeated problems with 123-reg and my email. I have a domain name and email that I paid £180.00 pounds for a month ago. Since then I have not had an outgoing email. I have all the correct settings but still I have no email. This is my work email and they have told me that Mac mail is not compatible with domain names and emails at 123 Reg. I have asked for my money back but they have refused. So I now have an email that will not work with my Mac mail and I am £180 out of pocket....Moral of this story is don't go near 123 Reg if you have a mac....

Hello,

Can you send your account details over to customerexperience@123-reg.co.uk so I can look into this and look to get your email set up and working. I can confirm that you definitely can use 123-reg email on an Ipad and i would be interested to look into the support you have received regarding this. It sounds like an issue with the way your outgoing server is set up, so if you can send over details of all your settings I should be able to find the cause.

Nerys

This is exactly my problem. I have reset on my 123 dashboard page and deleted and set up mail accounts over 10 times. I tried the above and one of my emails sent an email, I then did the same on the other email address but no joy. I have now tried on the one that did work and now it doesn't.

I was just about to buy another domain and site with 123 but no chance. Someone please help, this ridiculous and time consuming costing me too much money!!

Hello NickRidz,

If you can send over full details on the settings you are using to customerexperience@123-reg.co.uk I will be more than happy to check them and to ensure that these are correct. I will also be able to check your mailbox.

If the issue is just from sending it may be the case that your ISP does not allow the 123-reg SMTP port. If this is the case I will do my best to advise you of an alternative so we can get your emails flowing.

Nerys

Yep

Me too.

I can send and receive from my iPhone and iPad but not from my MacBook???

On my MB I can only receive not send, it is telling me the Connections to the server “smtp.123-reg.co.uk” on the default ports timed out.

Infuriating considering the cost implications as I have just set up my own business and am having to reply to clients on my Gmail account - Not good enough

Hi...I have had this problem too. I have been in touch with Nerys from 123 Reg who is very helpful. The main problem is 123 Reg domain names are not compatible with British Telecom. What you have to do is reset your outgoing mail which would be mail.123 reg (or something similar) to your BT outgoing server settings. So in effect you are 'piggybacking' on your out going BT settings. However in my opinion the basic problem is with 123 reg. It should be their 'techies' who should sort this out ....

Thanks for replying Tom.

Great, so a british based domain name business is not compatible with the biggest telecommunications business in the UK??????

What a load of bull. Why would you set up an internet business and not make it 'compatible' with BT!!

I wish I'd never signed up with these lot now, veru expensive and I seem to be spending more time trying to figure out work arounds than do my bloody job!

Hello

My name is James and I work here at 123-reg with Nerys.

I understand that you are having issues sending email using the 123-reg smtp server with BT as your ISP. Having read some of the recent comments, I would jsut like to say that at 123-reg we cannot change any settings to prevent this with BT as this is an issue with BT as they are not allowing third party smtp servers to send email.

Although we cannon change the settings, I am happy to give advice to anyone who needs it on how to get your outgoing email sending. Please send your details to customerexperience@123-reg.co.uk and Nerys and myself will be in touch with you

Kind Regards

James
