You cannot unlock your iPhone, only the carrier it is locked to can do that for you. Contact your carrier and see if they have a policy on unlocking iPhones.
Only the Carrier the phone is Locked to can Unlock it... Contact the Carrier and ask if they Offer this service.
Or did I misunderstand your problem? If the iPhone is now locked up after upgrading, can you connect to iTunes and do a restore from iTunes?
