2012 Macbook Pro crashes and reboots randomly?

I just bought my new 2012 macbook pro a couple weeks ago, and so far it has crashed and rebooted by itself four times. Three of those four times, I had only been running a couple programs, such as Chrome and Mail, while all others were closed. the entire computer will freeze for about 6-7 seconds (no response to mouse movement/keyboard) and then shut down and reboot.

Is this a bug with OS X Lion? or the new macbook Pro? or my macbook pro specifically indicating there's some sort of defect?

MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012), Mac OS X (10.7.3)

You have free tech support from Apple for 90 days from the date of purchase.

This has happened to me and when I brought it back to bestbuy and said my story, they ran diagnostics and said the macbook was fine. I still had it exchanged, and today it happened to me twice already again with a new macbook and I thought it was a bad macbook that I first got. Seems I cant rely on macbooks now and probably be looking at this in a few days and will look for a refund or a windows machine.

Sorry to hear that..I'm hoping this doesn't continue. it hasnt happened for a while ( few days)

Hopefully when mountain lion comes out, that might be fixed?

Darn it! I'm having the same problem. Rare but random crashes. The only consistent thing is that I'm always running Chrome (with lots of tabs open, I know, I know!) when this happens. I wonder if others with crashing problems are always running Chrome (Version 21.0.1180.49 beta). I running MacOSX 10.7.4. I just hope it's not a hardware problem...

After upgraded to Mountain lion, I haven't had any problems with crashing. The only complaint I have so far is longer boot up and shut down, but other than that, everything runs great. I hope your problem was fixed as well!
