Power Button Stuck on Brand New iMac

I've recently upgraded to a 27" iMac and the power button seems stuck or permanently depressed.

It takes a lot of fiddling around just to power it up. This morning I spent about 15 minutes pressing the button!

I'm avoiding shutting it down, just because Im worried I wont be able to start it again.

Is there a quick fix for unsticking the power button?

I live in the Arctic. Please dont tell me to take it to an Apple Store!

Thanks,

Terry

This is going to seem ridiculous but it worked for me. Unplug your desktop and turn it upside down (so the base is in the air). Try the power button now. When I took mine to Apple, they turned it over to get the serial number and then it worked fine. Brought it home, wouldn't work again so I turned it upside down and found that the power button would click again. Had to be gentle flipping it rightside up again. I'm guessing something slightly out of line in there.

Hope it helps.

I have a new to me late 2013 iMac, 27". Just finished setting it up for myself this past weekend. Shut it down and it hasn't been used until I tried to start it up tonight. I've had no joy with the solutions offered here. Power button seems is not perfectly flush on one side with case. Should it be? Upside down, turning with tape etc. don't have any effect. Tried to reset SMC with no difference. I can see two green LED's on through the slots in the bottomwhen it is upside down. Getting a blister on my finger. Teach me to buy used but the lady was so nice. Any suggestions?
