Hi. I was thinking about getting a macbook pro with retina. I saw this new payment plan for it and thought it would be perfect, but I would like some information about it from someone who has done this already before I do it.
Also, would this be an installment loan? I'm not allowed to continually charge this account like a credit card right?

Do not use the Citizen One Loan financing option at Apple. They are terrible. I would recommend using the Barclay Card or some other 12-18 month 0% interest financing card. Citizen one keeps your money for a month if you return the product and they have terrible customer service. They send you to phone numbers that never get answered.

It's an installment loan.... you get a limit to make your purchase and then just make monthly payments. I just signed up for it, but I didn't know the interest rate... until I esigned the loan (the promissory note). I ended up getting an 11% interest rate.. not low, but better than my credit card!! It was actually cheaper to sign up for the four year plan - the interest rate was lower vs. the two year (which was 14%) and I figure I will pay it off in one 🙂 So it's similar to a student loan... I think it's a great option instead of getting another credit card. If you apply and change your mind - the loan doesn't take effect since there would be no promissory note to sign 🙂

My daughter is thinking of buying a Pro on credit and the RBS option seems attractive but do you know if one can pay the balance off early without any penalty or further interest?
Yes you can! I just bought my MacBook Pro in June when the new one came out... and am almost done paying it off. There is no pre-payment penalty. And depending on how quickly you pay... the interest can be greatly reduced since by making bigger payments you are lowering your principal. Hope this helps!

It was instant... however they did send a detailed decision via email as well. Good luck! Hope it works out. Sometimes if you have a credit freeze on your credit report they tend to have a second review and not provide an "instant" decision.

I apply with a co-applicant last Wensday on thursday I recieved and email saying that they need a copy of a current utility bill or W-2 employer tax form or a current bank statement that shows my co-applicant current address. This was sent on Friday and I still haven't heard from them. Maybe the process is a little longer since I'm using a co-applicant. Thanks again for your info.

AFAIK, it still is - just go through the Apple Store online and see about signing up (mine was a Barclay's 'card' sort of).
