wow, that sounds like a GREAT solution! And why does everyone on here insist on moving their portable laptops? You aren't supposed to do that with the new MBP's!

I have had nothing but trouble with this macbook pro retina. It's creaks like mad (and is getting worse), and the OS crashes a few times a day now. Looks like I'll be returning this and upgrading to the latest hp line (it's less than a quarter the costs). At that price, I can buy a new one once a year and still save money!

This is my first apple computer, and I thought they were supposed to be good, but my 3 year old hp is much better!

Just out of curiosity, what configurations do you guys have? Mine is 16GB RAM, 512GB HD, 2.6GHz CPU. I am wondering if somehow the creaking could be related to the installiation of different amounts of memory or different processors...

I too have the creaking problem. If I am to grip the laptop firmly with BOTH hand to move it around I can hear creaking noises. Its also a constant noise while using the laptop in my lap.

I also noticed that the bottom plate isn't flush in two specific areas. The bottom plate has a lot of movement. The specific locations is this: put yor finger in the middle of the rightspeaker grill...then continue moving your finger right until you get to the back plate between two screws. You will find a spot with a lot of movement. An extra screw should be there for support. (do the same on the left side of your laptop)

I am having a similar issue. When I rest my hand on the palm rest (in particular to the left of the trackpad) and then lift my hands off of the palm rests, I hear a loud "click" or "creak". Really annoying.

Is there something to be tightened? I don't want to open the case and void warranty

Return it for a replacement! I was having the same problem. Took it to the Apple Store and demonstrated the cracking sound to a salesperson. Within 10 minutes I had a brand new replacement in my hand. I even neglected to take my original power cord to the store, and they said not to worry about it, as it was their gift to me for the hassle.

The new one is creak-free and wonderful. Unfortunately there are a few small stains on the right palm rest. Taking it back today for another new one, unless they can remove the stains.

When you're paying this much, get exactly what you want!

I took it to the Genius Bar who opened up the back plate and rescrew it back on. The noise has not come back at all since then 🙂. It's probably just because it wasn't screwed on as firmly as it should have been.

If you can I would suggest making an appointment with the Genius Bar and have them do the same thing.
