i worked form mac book pro for 2 months and it is not cheap in any way, people who had macs told me that apple makes really durable laptops. It is everything but durable. when i got my mac bout of the box i felt it creaking. Than, next day i realized that it wasn't screen wasn't lined up with the body properly.

This morning my macbook was in the backpack i dropped it little harder than usual. when i checked it it was fine but when i shook it. it makes a tick tack sound. I mean i have been using hp for 4 years i dropped it 5 times and it was fine

MAC IS EVERYTHING BUT DURABLE

ITS BEAUTIFUL BUT F***ED UP

Same issues with my MacBook Pro Retina mid-2012. Since I'm still under Apple care, I've had it in several times to try to find the issue. They replaced the logic board, monitor, and a few other things. Still has the same issue. When it happens, I can do a restart, and it will work for a while. But when in the middle of teaching a class and want to show a short clip, this is not practical. My sound works fine when using audio on iBooks. Same sound whether using external speakers, headphone, or only internal speakers.

As others have stated, the Apple Genius, as well as online support act like they have never heard of this issue. I need to get resolved before my support runs out in June.

I glanced through this long stream of posts. Anyone have any resuts?

I was experiencing the same problem as many of those that have commented on this post. My mid 2014 retina macbook pro 13" was creaking both when i held the bottom and when i rested my hands next to the trackpad. I took it to the genius bar, and they decided to open it up and see if there was a hardware issue. They figured out that there was some excess air trapped between the casing and the internals of the notebook that escaped once the casing was loosened and opened. They resealed the device and there is no more clicking or creaking that occurs.

This may be the same problem with some of your macbooks and you should definitely take it to the genius bar if its bothering you.

Thank goodness I found this page!

My Retina MBP (December 2014 purchase) has always creaked like an old ship at anchor, and I detest it. I assumed it was just something that I was going to have to live with, and ascribe to it being made in China.

I find the term 'Genius' a bit bizarre, but I'll go to an Apple store and see what they can do for me. No way am I swapping this for a 'reconditioned' machine, though: I know I've looked after this one.
