The iTunes Library Extras.itdb file is locked,... How can I launch iTunes?

After installing iTunes on a new Windows 7 computer, thte program has returned one error after another. The last and seemingly insurmountable error is: "The iTunes Library Extras.itdb file is locked, on a blocked disk, or you do not have write permission for this file." After doing a system search, this file cannot be found on this computer. Perhaps it is hidden. How can the permissions be changed and how can I gain access to iTunes?

Right-click on your main iTunes folder and click Properties, then go to the Security tab and click Advanced. If necessary grant your account and system full control to this folder, subfolders and files, then tick the option to replace permissions on child objects which will repair permissions throughout the library. This is the XP dialog but Windows 7 shouldn't be too different.
