Attachments sent with the email do not show up when received

Does this occur with all recipients or only one in particular?

Is this recipient a Windows or Mac user and do you know which email client this recipient is using?

There is no indication the attachment was removed by the recipient's incoming mail server or by antivirus software?

Or are these photo/image attachments that appear but are embedded and not available as an attached file?

I have the same problem,
when I attach a file, Windows users on the other end find it embeded in the email as an image and the only option to save as is a bmp file. I have tried clicking on windows friendly option with same result. Some people read the attachments without a problem.

I believe your problem is different.

Based on your problem as described, you are using RTF for message composition.

Windows Outlook has a problem reading Mail.app RTF properly which also has an effect on image attachments.

When sending to a Windows Outlook user, you need to use Plain Text for message composition which should resolve this problem.

Yeah this has been a real problem for some time. Attachments and RTF in emails sent to Outlook users can be a nightmare. The other thing you have to watch out for is having your RTF message being split into multiple txt files when you use attachments. The only way to avoid that (most of the time) is to put the attachment at the very bottom of an email.

I wish Apple would fix this, my coworkers do not appreciate their emails being reformatted to Plain text when I reply. It may be Outlooks "fault" but when you are the majority others need to comply with your faults.

If any of you are using the resizing button at the bottom of the Compose window, to reduce file size, DO NOT DO SO on any files other than those for photo files. Using the resize button with PDF, will convert the file type, but will not warn you.

Also, using the resize image button applies to all files attached, even later in composing the message, and will cause any PDF to fail for the recipient.

I don't know if this applies to any of you, but thought it might.
