I am trying to add Tamil Font ( Used for Indian Regional Language - Tamil ). I Have over 1500 titles on print and would like to digitalize them for iPads.
When I opened iBooks Author, I don't see any Tamil Fonts available. How do I get around this or is there any other steps that I need to take inorder to make this work.

If you go to Format > Font > Show Fonts and make sure it is set to All Fonts and not just English, you should see 3 Tamil fonts: InaiMathi, Tamil MN, and Tamil Sangam MN. Do you really not have these?
Do you understand that you have to activate the Tamil keyboard layout in system prefs/language & text/input sources to type Tamil? Just changing the font does not work on modern computers. Once you have the keyboard layout active the right font is used automatically.

PS When you digitize these, make sure the result is Unicode, because that is the only form of Tamil supported by the iPad.
Now, I do see those 3 fonts that you mentioned. I have enabled them on the prefernces.
When I type, I don't see tamil fonts as you mentioned. I do have Tamil Enabled for Language preferences and also for input sources.
but, I don't know how to activate the keyboard to type tamil within iBooks.
2. How do I make sure the result is Unicode ? is it in the export option or somewhere else ?

Go to system preferences/language & text/input sources and check the box for Show Input Menu in Menu Bar. Then go to the "flag" menu at the top right of the screen and select Tamil. Then type.
What you type in iBooks Author is automatically Unicode. I was referring to the case where you might use some sort of scanning to convert your print titles to digital text.
