Podcasts App - No sync with iTunes??

New Podcasts App = great (thanks). BUT...

I want the Podcasts that I've subscribed to in iTunes to appear automatically on any device (iPhone, iPad) that I have signed in under the same Apple ID. I subscribe to about 28 podcasts and it is a real pain to have to manually add each of those to both my iPhone and my iPad — not to mention keeping all that in sync as I add or delete subscriptions over time.

Is anyone else having this problem? Do you think Apple is working on a fix for this? I've got the latest everything, iOS 5.1.1, iPhone 4S, iPad3, iTunes 10.6.3, iCloud. No luck 😟

Once you plug in your iPhone, you have to allow it to sync. Go to the podcast tab and check "sync podcasts". Then, when you have that checked, you can go to your device, right click, and select "transfer purchases". That SHOULD solve the problem. And now, whenever you syncs with iTunes it will do so automatically. Now, if you are wanting it to sync via iCloud, I don't think they've implemented that yet.

"...

I just figured this out. I had to go into iTunes on my Mac and tell it to sync all podcasts instead of all new podcasts. I hit sync and they started transfering back to my iPhone. I opened the Podcasts app and I can see them and play them.

Yep same problem; no fixes work.

I subscribed to 24 podcasts and they will not show on the new 'podcasts' app and they are now gone from the 'music' app.

New information:

- Itunes copies over the podcasts to my iphone, but they do not show anywhere (if you watch the progress bar you can see them being copied over, but no apps on the phone can see or access them).

Tested and failed:

- sync podcasts

- sync selected podcasts

- sync new episodes

- sync all episodes

- create a playlist; add podcasts to playlist; on the podcasts tab select 'include podcasts from playlists'

What does work (and is crappy):

1 create a playlist folder called podcasts

2 add individual playlists for each podcast

3 drag and drop episodes from each podcast into the corresponding playlist

4 select every podcast on your playlist (ctrl+a)

5 right click and select 'get info'

6 select the 'info' tab

7 change 'genre' from 'podcast' to 'audiobook'

8 select the 'options' tab

9 change 'media kind' from 'podcast' to 'audiobook'

10 click 'ok'

11 connect your device

12 go to the devices' 'books' tab

13 scroll down and select 'sync audiobooks'

14 scroll down further and select 'include audiobooks from playlists'

15 select 'sync'

Way to go Apple. What a screw up; removing key functionality and usability.

Get it sorted out.
