10.6.3 update won't download

I was seeing the same problem, too. I noticed that the iTunes status bar was hung trying to send Genius information. When I cancelled that task, though, I was able to rerun the update and get the download to work.

As of this morning (7:00 AM on Monday 7/9/2012), the regular update procedure worked -- no fiddling, reconfiguring, or jerry-rigging required. I logged onto iTunes, got the regular pop-up, and clicked on the download button. Unlike previous attempts, after a little while (seemed a bit longer than usual), the normal pop-up appeared with checkboxes for iTunes, Quicktime, Safari, etc. The download just finished while I was writing this.

I'm on windows vista , and I'm getting the same. I'm told there is an update available. I click to update now, and nothing happens.

Similar problem as others have had, except I am trying to update through iTunes. I click Check for Updates and then when I click "Download iTunes" it switched to Softwaare Update and tells me I am up to day. Then nothing more happens.

That's actually fitting the pattern being reported in some of the other threads on the issue, Dr Bard. It can come right for some people at some times (but not for others).

I'm afraid there's also a reported chance for it going wrong again for you too, despite today's success. So, as a general principle, if you get a window like this, try and get as many updates done as possible while it's working ...

Still not working for me here...running Windows XP. Been trying all day, with no luck.

Thank you, b noir, for clarifying. If it's really just hit and miss, then all we have to do keep trying until we eventually hit. I usually update whenever prompted, and I think this is my first failure. I guess I'm just lucky.

Forgot to say that I'm running Windows 7 64-bit. Maybe the OS makes a difference.

I had the same problem. I unuinstalled iTunes 10.6.1.7 and then downloaded and installed 10.6.3 with internet explorer and it worked fine. By the way I'm running Windows XP 32 bit.

I had some luck today. Removed ad-aware, and voila. Updated, no problems.

Same thing for me. So is the fix to manually reinstall iTunes from the Apple web site?

I guess so...Or just not update iTunes at all.

Would you be so kind as to let us know if it works. I'm on vista 32 bit too. Also did you uninstall your existing iTunes first or did you just download and install from the Apple website over your existing installation?

Attempting to DL the 10.6.3 for days now with the same result: "The update could not be verified. It may have been corrupted during downloading. The update will be downloaded and checked again the next time that Software Update runs." 😠
