10.6.3 update won't download

When I open iTunes 10.6.1 it says: A new version of iTunes is available (10.6.3). Would you like to download it now? When I click Download iTunes, nothing happens.

I also tried downloading 10.6.3 directly from the apple web site and it does not download when I click Save.

Has anyone had a similar problem?

iPhone 4S, Windows Vista

Success!

As of this morning (7:00 AM on Monday 7/9/2012), the regular update procedure worked -- no fiddling, reconfiguring, or jerry-rigging required. I logged onto iTunes, got the regular pop-up, and clicked on the download button. Unlike previous attempts, after a little while (seemed a bit longer than usual), the normal pop-up appeared with checkboxes for iTunes, Quicktime, Safari, etc. The download just finished while I was writing this.

... wish I knew why it suddenly started working today :-(

Exactly the same for me, yesterday. Just got the regular pop-up, updated iTunes, QuickTime . Safari etc, after weeks of it not working! Operating system is Vista.

I guess they finally released a patch for the iTunes updater not working. I also had a problem where i just bought a new laptop with windows 7 64 bit home premium and i went to install iTunes for the first time on the new laptop and everything installed except is said something about the mobile driver not having the permissions ti start. I resolved this by installing all of the newest updates for my OS through windows update and that was what fixed my problem. Not sure if that helps anyone...

My problem is similar but caused, I believe, by the paucity of our broadband (its superslow and goes by the name of 'narrowband'), I managed to download the iOS6 for my ipad2 on 3-mobile, but the ones for my iPhone4 simply gave up the ghost and said the network connection failed. I had a similar problem with the iPhoto update (they are 848mb and 1.14Gb respectively) so I may go to my local Apple Store (where local is defined as 30 miles away) and use their connections to do it (they have a 20mbps connection).

I know its the Apple way or no way but why don't they recognises that, in the UK at least, some 15 - 20% of rural users don't have access to speeds much above 1.5 mbps and bring a thumb drive solution out?

"Illegitimi non carborundum" especially where the updates are as big as the original suite of programs.
