The None option is only available when setting up new Apple ID using a certain set of instructions. I'm afraid you won't be able to remove your payment method from your ID. Sorry.

Wow then thats really a bad part on Apples side. Wow. Then I can not purchase anything anymore. Whenever I try to purchase something it says you need to check your billing information, because I deactivated my card it does not recognize it as a real card and it is stuck there. So If I redeem an app store gift card will i then be able to purchase things? Also how would you associate a new Apple ID with my iPod because that may be what I have to do if this does not work. Thanks

You can change your billing info to another card if you'd like. Otherwise, you can also redeem a gift card as you had asked.

Apple ID's aren't associated with iPods.  If you want to set up an start using a new Apple ID on your iPod, you can head to Settings -> Store and tap Sign Out. Then sign in with your new account.

Keep in mind that all previous purchases made with the old ID are permanently attached to that ID.  So if you have an app with an update that was purchased with the old ID, you'll need to use the old ID credentials to update it.

To remove your cc information from a account:
    1. Go into itunes
    2. click store

    3. click view my account (also capable of signing out)

    4. Input account data

    5. Click edit next to credit card information

    6. Select none and then done

No the none option is not there. You can't take off a credit card number once the day period is up after signing up. I had to make a new apple ID and not put any CC #'s on it and solely use my debit card to go to a mac store and buy the gift cards with it

Yep.  Once the credit number is on the account, it cannot be removed.  Thanks for sharing what you ended up doing.

You can't do it online but I have been able to change payment option to "none" via the iPod. Go into your Apple Account and select Payment options. None is an available and can be selected.

I do this for my childrens iPods. They give me the money and I then re-enable the creadit card for that purchase. I then change it back to None.

No you can not change it to none. The 'none' option is not available for people in the United States of America after the first few days of making the account is up.

Exactly.   You have to create a new account with an unused email after that in order for the None option to appear.

So I used the None selection on my ipod so my CC/debit card wont be used anymore for my apps, but I received an itunes card for my birthday...so if Im understanding correctly, I cant register this to use for my ipod app games? instead of using my cc/debit card? Please advise if anyone can help me on this. Carlena95
