Apple Event: May 7th at 7 am PT

Looks like no one’s replied in a while. To start the conversation again, simply ask a new question.

How come the new MacBook Pro Retina doesn't support Apple Remote?

I need it for Keynotes. I was about to order a loaded version of the new portable, but won't until it supports Apple Remote.

A top of range computer should support a key feature like remote handling of presentations without connecting an Apple TV.

I am incredibly frustrated by the fact the macbook has no IR anymore. It really makes life more difficult as I use it often for photoshows, on entirely remote areas and I hate to have lots of stuff with me.

And no, IPhone is no option, as I dont rely on the WifiConnection. Its just not safe and professional.

So: I bought this:

http://www.amazon.de/FLIRC-USB-Dongle-Media-Center-Raspberry-XBMC/dp/B00BB0ETW8/ ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1402518528&sr=8-1&keywords=flirc

and use my old remote again.

I wonder when I lose the dongle.

Just another thing to worry.

Agree with the C for the Retina.

For the sake of others who might read this thread.

What I usually do if I can't get to a wifi router, is simply have my laptop create a private network (using the "Create network" option from the wifi menu in the Finder). Then I join my phone to that network and use that setup to remotely control the keynote presentation.

You won't have access to the internet while running your presentation but with the presentations I've given that's not really been a problem.
