HP Scanjet 3800 support by OS X

HP email support in the US says that OS X does not support the Scanjet 3800 but the specification for that model on the HP UK website says 10.2 and above and that there is a Mac software CD in the box. Does anyone in the UK have this working - particularly the 35mm slide scanning function?

I decided to buy an HP Scanjet 3800 anyway so I can answer my own question. HP Image Zone software on my OS X 10.4.5 recognises the scanner and scans A4 ok but the Transparent Materials Adapter (TMA) is not recognised and is probably defective. The unit has gone back to the supplier for repair.

I have to admit that I assumed than an all-in-one printer/scanner/copier would scan 35 mm slides, but I now see that slides have to be illuminated from the back.

I am sure I am not the only one as dumb as this and the publicity material does not say clearly that if you want to scan slides/negatives you have to have a scanner with a TMA.
