A 2nd generation iPod Touch can not be upgraded beyond 4.2.1.

I really disagree with not being able to get apps that isn't my version of my ipod, If you going to make a new operating system leave the old versions for ipods that can't download the newer ones derp? Like *** why are you going to try to rip us off like that, If I wanted to get the new ipod I would so stop trying to make me get it. -.-

PairoDocs,

Thanks for the informative responses. I was able to rescue the old compatible *.ipa files from a system back-up and replaced them right in the Users:name:Music:Mobile Applications folder. Since the apps had been auto deleted from the Gen 2 iPod Touch I didn't know how to get iTunes to recognize the old versions for installation. Clicking on the *.ipa file did the trick. Thanks again for the helpful information.

Cheers,

Steve

It is really disappointing me.... Hearing that 4.2.1 is the only upgrade my 2nd gen ipod touch could get.

I cant download any app from the app store!

It feels like the day i bought my ipod was the darkest day of my life because the next day itself 3rd gen ipod was available in the market!

Now i feel sad.

Cant do anything else... other than sharing my problem with you guys...

Now My ipod is really LIMITED!!!!

All I have to say to apple is that I will not be purchasing any future products with them. What is the point of purchasing something and then latter not being able to use it to its full capacity because they felt that users with a second generation iPod touch weren't important. They don't even seem to at least provide a trade in program.

Update. 2ND generation ipod touch.
