Update. 2ND generation ipod touch.

Can i update a 2nd generation ipod to IOS5 ? I know that below "about" in "general" there is suppost to be a thing that says update but my ipod doesn't have that. And, when i go to itunes it doesn't let me update it. Help !! Please !

A 2nd generation iPod Touch can not be upgraded beyond 4.2.1.

It has nothing to do with how Apple feels about the people who still have a 2nd gen device. What it is about is the fact that a 2nd gen does not have the hardware required to run a more current version of iOS. what you're asking for would be like asking the company who made your VHS recorder to give you a Blueray player for free. Get over it.

I understand technology is constantly changing but to block folks from getting apps after paying several hundred dollars for apple products blows. They should have a separate web site for obsolete firmware. Everybody doesnt have money every time they come out with something new ,besides they new stuff is so costly and you have to think , one day that will be obsolete too. Such a rip off.
