office mac blurry on retina display

Any text that's not fuzzy on the Retina display is presumably using a standard Apple control for text (or else has already been updated). Given what Outlook is doing (rendering HTML text among other things) AND the fact that it's a newer app, it wouldn't surprise me that it's using Apple's HTML renderer.

I have installed the line of code recommended in the link above to the Cult of Mac page. It worked fine until I rebooted (closing and re-openung Word might have done the same thing, as it did to the user above). Minimizing my Word documents and un-minimizing does not restore the Retina high res. anymore. I rechecked Word's info screen, and the checkbox for low res. remains unchecked. I checked the plist file inside Word, and the line of code I inserted is still there. So I am at a loss now to know what to do. I love the high res. when it was working, even if I did have to minimize and unminimize any newly opened document to get high res. to work.

It works great on my mine. Even after closing word and re-opening. Just have to minimize the doc and then expand again. Atl least on mine. The code also works for excel and power point. Outlook already opens in hi-res for some reason.

Powerpoint for me is still blurry for me on retina. I'm running 14.3.9, have uninstalled, reinstalled, updated, did the copy-to-desktop fix, did the terminal date-trick fix, ensured unchecked box in powerpoint to not run in low res. All this but still I have blurry menus, decks, and certainly graphics. I have no idea if the images in the decks I do in powerpoint end up being actually blury or now, so I print to pdf to be sure. It's a pain in the neck for me, as I use powerpoint daily. All my other office apps are fine, all run high res and are clear.

Any tips anyone? help!

Also, if you don't have the most recent version of Office, I wouldn't expect an update from Microsoft ever. For example, I have Office 2008 and I doubt it will get updated for the retina display.

Retina 13" early-2013

I have the same problem: Word, Excel and Powerpoint for Mac are blurry. But Outlook for Mac is not blurry. It seems that Outlook somehow supports the retina display?. Does anyone know how that is possible?

This stopped working for me, too. It had been working consistently for weeks. Now, it does not, even after plenty of restarts. The line of code is still there in info.plist and I am definitely using the correct version of Word. Maddening!

Like Mr. Fisher, I have had no problem with Word docs appearing crisp after making the modification. I will repeat here, however, that if you choose to have the system minimize your documents into the program icon in the Doc, rather than into the right-hand side of the Doc where they appear as separate items, the minimize-expand does not fix the fuzziness. Seems like voodoo magic, but there's probably some good reason for this behavior.

However it is very strange. I did an official update and in order to get it working I've tot go to the the Terminal utility using UNIX command touch to get it working. I'm wondering how would a user not knowing that the Terminal even exists and OSx is in fact a UNIX based system could solve this.

But anyway. It is working fine now, finaly no blurry office anymore on my great MBP.

Did you mean that now it supports retina in presentation mode now? I am actually in the middle of the update progess, but it didn't mention about retina updates (as uaual, only all the craps about security missed out).
