Mini and Logitech V270 Bluetooth mouse

I just got my mac mini core solo and am having difficulty with my bluetooth mouse. I also have a MacBookPro that I was using with the V270 Logitech bluetooth mouse. With the MBP, it works flawlessly. It tracks well and has a pretty good range (20+ feet).

When I connect the V270 to the mac mini (after disconnecting MacBookPro/V270 Bluetooth), I get very limited connection. At about one foot away the mouse tracks poorly and 10 feet away it completely disconnects.

I brought it into the local Apple store for a Genius to look at it and had similar problems. It did poorly on a mini and it did much better on the macbookpro. Although not as good as it has been working at home. The genius did think that the problem was the V270 but he was unable to recommend a good multibutton mouse to work with the mini.

Has this problem happened to anyone else? Were you able to isolate the problem to the mouse or to the mini. If it's the mouse, can anyone recommend a good two button mouse with scroll wheel

Thanks,
Mike

I've got the same problems on the Dual Core. I got the Apple BT keyboard and the logitech V270. Keyboard works great by itself. If I run both the keyboard and mouse, I get horrible mouse tracking (at about 6 feet) and it loses connection about every 2-3 minutes. Keyboard also goes to pieces when mouse is in use. I haven't found a solution yet.

I just bought a core duo mac mini to replace a recently purchased 1.42Ghz Mac Mini. My v270 worked fine on my other mini, and now it goes berserk, keeps tracking after I stop tracking, flies around the screen. So to troubleshoot I bought the Apple BT mouse and only once did the computer lockup, or the mouse stop responding, not sure if that is related or just a coincidence. Lastly, I bought a kensington portable BT mouse, and it too tracks weird and is unusable. I am beginning to think there might be a SW issue or potential hardware issue with BT on the Mac Mini's.

Add me to the list. I tried Kensington and Logitech bluetooth mice with my new Mac Mini - neither one would maintain connection. Reluctantly went back to standard 1-button Apple bluetooth mouse - it works perfectly.

Don't know where the fault lies, but sure wish Apple would come out with a scroll wheel mouse. I'm used to Windows, just starting Mac, and constantly trying to scroll the mouse.
Why is Apple so pig-headed about these things?

The Mac Mini PowerPC and bluetooth keyboard and mouse work like a dream. Absolutely NO problems. I am sorry to hear you have having issues with the new Intel systems and BT.

I am hoping that Apple does a Bluetooth Mighty Mouse so I can get one right away. The mighty mouse is great and I bought one when it came out, but BT is da bomb on Mac OS X. I have had nothing but problems with BT on my Dell at work with Windows XP.

Since you have a new Mac have you called tech support? You should.

I exchanged my original V270 and got a brand new one to test out. When I brought it home, it reacted the exact same way. Works well on the macbookpro and works erratically on the intel mini.

I called up apple support again and they told me that the V270 may not be compatible with the mac mini and I should contact Logitech to verify its compatibility. I sent off an email to Logitech and am waiting for a reply.

One thing I noticed was that the mouse worked much better when it was used behind the mini. Its still bad, but better.

I'll keep you posted.

I have the Apple BT Mouse on my intel mini and it works fine, I had one isolated incident of the unit freezing, but not sure if that is a "awake from sleep" issue or something else. As for buying from the Apple Store, you have 14 days to try out a product, you can return it with all of the box and packaging and your original sales receipt. The unit needs to be in a new and sellable condition. I am sticking with my Apple BT mouse and will randomly try the Logitech and watch logitech's site for any potential updates.
