When trying to extend an existing 5GHz network, it does not show up in the list of available networks inside the Airport Utility.
Extension of 2.4GHz networks works fine. Is this an intentional limitation on the (new) Apple Airport Express?

Glad that you got things working.
You might want to have a chat with the Apple Support chap....to let him know that the firmware that he said was coming in the future to allow the Express to extend dual bands..... has been with us since the introduction of the Express.
I would say Apple should show and allow extension of individual networks in a future firmware upgrade, just as it is with the Airport Extreme. I would also like to see a little bit better antenna reception capabilities if this is at all possible in that form factor.
But really great we confirmed how to solve this mystery twice!!
Hey all! I am not that savvy when it comes to setting up new or extending networks so please bare with me. I just plugged in a new AirPort Express into my Netgear router so that I can use the Express as a wireless access point. In doing so, I set up a new network and was wondering how can I make it a 5GHz network (I am set up by my internet provider for both 2.4GHz and 5GHz; I can connect to either 2A4CF8 or 2A4CF8 5G). Now that the AirPort Express is plugged in, I setup a new network (RuckusII) and want to also make available RuckusII 5G. Is this possible?
