I play EVE Online and have had to reset the graphics/Cache settings to get it to display anything but a black screen. When launching a intensive application that requires GPU the system hangs until it loads or dies... I have had to kill apps with terminal to get them to close when the GPU hangs/Locks up.

15" non retina display Macbook Pro 2012

everything brand new include mouse

Mac sits on a laptop cooler off the desk so there is proper air flow ect.... This is not a heat issue as far as I can tell.

Had the same problem when I run firefox and Lightroom 4.

It happens numerous time and even with Apple's help desk cannot solve the problem after 3 days... going through disk repair x times and reformat / install OSX 2 times. So they asked me to return back and will replaced by a new set. But I think this will happen again if it is a driver problem.

Do appreciate those guys on the phone's customer service attitute.. thumbs up!!

I have an issue where my screen goes black when I click to load Quicken. I have a mid 2010 MBP. I've tried everything. I even have a new hard drive and it's doing it more frequently. I've tried both Apple community and Live Community for Quicken. Live community sent me to a website with CNET.

If anyone hears of any issues that have fixes, please let me know too. Maybe it is the same for my older MBP.

I tried this fix, but my screen just blacked out again when I tried to click on Quicken in the dock. http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13727_7-20083947-263/some-lion-users-plagued-by-bla ck-screen-bug/

This is extremely frustrating to have to manually shut down and then startup again. Oh, and I'm using Lion OS X 10.7.4 too.

WaiChung: Hey, I have been all over this community and the Quicken Live Community because I've been told oh it's a software problem, etc. Although, I will tell you this, I am so glad I have Apple Care. When I was on pc (DELL) I always got the plan with them too. You will find that with Apple Care, you can sleep knowing they stand by their Apple products. I get great service.

If it is like mine, a logic board, well, you're covered because it's new, but that is expensive once you're out of warranty. I think you will like your MBP...I like mine with a couple of exceptions and those are that excel and quicken are so much more sophisticated on pc, but now that I retired, I can live with that being the case. When working, I have to use both computers so that I can get contracts and budgets out on pc and do all my other stuff on the MBP...

Drop a line when you find out what your issue is. I bought an iPad because they need my computer for 3 to 5 days when the part arrives 😟 . Best of cases I wish for you. Liz
