How to permanently disable voice control

That is not how you turn off Voice Control. As has been previously noted in this thread, to turn off Voice Control, you go to Settings>General>Accessibility>Home Button>Press and Hold to Speak>Off

I have the same problem as jrryan.

Disabling triple click home doesnt fix the problem. I have also deactivated voice control (settings> general> code lock). The problems remains. Voice control keeps kicking in all the time...

Does anyone know how to get rid of the funktion compleatly?

Meg St Clair, like an overwhelming number of Apple cronies trolling this discussions forum since always, is a pompous æss who never understands (seemingly with purposeful intent) the concerns brought by users to the very forum where assistance should be found for their Apple devices. Instead, they find their most useful response to be things like, 'You should do what best meets your needs. No one here cares which phone you decide to use.' They basically accuse everyone in a very ableist and elitist fashion of being stupid and using their device incorrectly. Seriously, shut the **** up unless you have something that helps the user. This isn't the Eat-it-if-you-do-not-worship-Apple forum. What best meets their needs is an actual Apple-provided solution. In this case, the ability to leave voice control fully and always disabled.


It is not unreasonable to want for the home button to do nothing except for illuminate the screen, to unlock a device, and to navigate a device while unlocked. I posit it is very much a concern of accessibility and basic usability. Not everyone using an Apple device uses it the exact same way as you, Meg.

Personally, I cast a million votes for full home button option control that allows fully disabling voice control in the highest sense without affecting other home button, Siri, or accessibility settings.

iOS 10.x seems to have shortened the time required to hold the home button before voice control is activated. It's too quick that half of my attempts at screen capture (home + lock buttons) instead enable voice control, then immediately lock the device, no capture recorded. It's only like this because Apple changed it to be like this. Again, not everyone uses their device just like Meg uses hers. If you can imagine it, some people prefer Apple devices yet live with health concerns that limit their ability to press buttons together within a half-second sequence.

Alas, Apple was sure everything is just right. I tell you it is not, it can be better and inclusive of many more users with a couple of options alongside the existing options. I know that Apple likes revenue and more of it. Doesn't that happen by successfully reaching existing as well as new customers?

I don't lean on the home buttom! I don't lean on any part of my phone, but sometime one buttom is pressed accidentally. This is the reason for the key lock. I just what to know how to dissable the voice dail if this one button is pressed.

for the love of god, my voice control pops up, **** up my button and nothing works. have restore and reset the iphone a million times and it is still ******. would love apple to give us the solution.

Dear Apple, I don't want to have a pass code on my phone and I don't want the phone to call a random person in my address list just because the home button is pressed accidentally!! How do I fix it???

The more users will claim this issue the faster Apple will hear about it and maybe fix it in future updates.

Blow quite hard into your home button from different angles whilst pushing it down in different directions also. You may have dust inside the button causing the problem. It happens to me a lot and I blow into the cracks of the button and it solves the problems for a few days.

I have an iPod Touch 4th gen and wouldn't ya know I got the same problem. Except, sometimes it reads voice without opening that strange screen. I'm on the Internet with earbuds in and then a song from a soundtrack I regret downloading starts, pauses, restarts, and then voice control quits... Once the song is set on loop. And my home button is weird and senses a long home click as a double click and two clicks as a home click. So I'm on my app search by the time I get the little menu to open. I envy my dads smartphone with its simple touchscreen home button.

Really silly!

I have a broken home button, and that's why my iPhone 4 starts randomly calling someone when not locked!

A real design flaw, the voice dail can not deactivated completely.

I consider now a jailbreak for the first time.

It's beyond ridiculous. Paying customers have been complaining about not being able to shut off Voice Control since July of LAST YEAR. I've put up with this nonsense for 2 days straight along with the fact that my home button won't work. Voice Control looks for music, tries to do Face Time, and even makes calls... all 3 without my permission! Apple needs to fix these problems NOW, because us customers are sick of this nonsense.
