Q: Creating Apple ID without credit card

Hi,

How can I create an Apple ID to use on Itunes without a credit card?  I want to get free apps for my ipod touch.

I don't want to go through giving my serial number just to contact Apple support.

I searched Google for an answer, and many people say an Apple ID can't be made without a credit

card but I know that's not true.  Many people already have.  The closest I've come to making an Apple ID

is clicking on a free app in Itunes, and then I start making an Apple ID account, I click "none" for payment,

and I enter address/name, and when I click next is says "Please contact Itunes support to complete

this transaction."

I read the Apple support article "HT2534" and it's not valid based on my experience, because

after I click "none" and fill in name/address, it says to contact "Itunes support" as mentioned above.

I won't tether my credit card information to my serial number and iPod because I want to read pdf

files on my iPod with privacy.

When I want to buy apps, I already have an iTunes gift card to make payment, but I can't use it

without an Apple ID.

Help.

If it is a paid app, you have to add a payment method to your account.

You can't create an Apple ID without credit card information if you already done your Apple ID using another ways, like the Apple ID webpage or another kind of service like iCloud.

If you want to create an Apple ID without credit card, you'll have to click on any FREE APP, and when prompts you to enter your Apple ID, you choose CREATE APPLE ID. When creating the Apple ID doing this, the option in payment info "NONE"may be available.

Ps: YOU'LL ONLY BE ABLE TO SEE THIS OPTION IF CREATING THE APPLE ID BY CLICKING ON A FREE APP AND CHOOSING "CREATE APPLE ID". YOU CAN'T TURN YOUR EXISTING ACCOUNT ON A FREE ACCOUNT, YOU'LL HAVE TO CREATE A NEW ONE, USING ANOTHER EMAIL ADDRESS.

If you want to use your actual email address to create an Apple ID without credit card, you can go to http://appleid.apple.com change your primary address to another that you don't use, but you have to verify this other email, so you gotta have access to it. After verified the other email address, the email that you are actually using as an Apple ID is free to use on an iTunes Store account without credit card

    Hope this help, regards

the issue here is when there is 'none' option when creating a new apple id not existing.

i had the same dillema when i was making my 1st apple id. after reading through different guides and forums all is offering the same answer on how to get this done, create new apple id! w/c i don't agree and refuse to agree.

One thing is common on this kind of issue (missing 'none' option under billing) that isyou opened itunes > registered your account (i guess from a pc like i did!)

For 1st time Apple ID registration (meaning you never ever and ever have tried registering/using your preferred apple id/e-mail address)

    1. Open iTunes
    2. Go to iTunes Store
    3. Search and install any 'Free' App (Facebook, Find My iPhone, etc)

    4. Follow the step by step instructions
    5. And under billing you should have 'none' option

Now let's say you were as excited as me to register your 1st Apple ID and you skipped the steps above and is now having issues w/ missing 'none' option there are two (2) approach you can do.
    1. Create a new Apple ID and follow steps above -yes! that easy. Although you haven't finished the part for the billing due to the missing 'none', the Apple ID you entered is already registered and cannot be used anymore unless you finish the billing.

2.If you wish to keep your Apple ID without making a new one then Do Steps Below! -maybe it's not just me but the 1st Apple ID i used is what i really want so creating a new one is a no no! So if you would like to stick with your used Apple ID and encounters the issue above. So thinking out of the box i came up with the steps below which should help you like it did to me!

    But you need to have:
    1. Another Apple ID (say a temporary Apple ID since you don't like it and hopefully you finished the steps    above)

    2. Another e-mail address

When you have these then let's go!

2.1 Login to your Apple ID(Phone/PC) the one with the missing 'none' athttps://appleid.apple.com
         2.2.Click 'Manage Account'
2.3 Under 'Apple ID and Primary Email Address' click edit
2.4 Remove your Apple ID (seven/seven@mail.com which ever it is)
2.5 Put your other e-mail account
         2.6 Hit 'Save Changes'

2.7 Login to the Apple ID you successfully created (but not the one you preferred!)

         2.8.Click 'Manage Account'

2.9 Under 'Apple ID and Primary Email Address' click edit

2.10 Remove your Apple ID (seven/seven@mail.com which ever it is)
2.11 Enter your desired/original/preferred Apple ID

         2.12 Hit 'Save Changes'

         2.13 Open iTunes
         2.14 Problem solved!

This is a long and tedious task but if you really wanted to keep your Apple ID then it's going to be worth it!

Sorry for the long post. Hope it helps!

If you want to download apps from U.S appstore, your IP has to be located in America to get "none" when registering a new account. Otherwise it will ask you for a credit card.

Those that live in the U.S won't have any problems registering a new account without a credit card.

I find this whole country filtering crap is ridiculous. My gf works for a magazine conglomerate in Asia. When she wants to view or buy her magazine's counterpart in another country, she can not see it in itunes. What options does she have? No answers needed... iTunes isn't the way. That's for sure.

Mine worked when i got my ipod back in 2011. Maybe Apple changed the rules. Try making the account over iTunes on a pc then download a free app to your pc.

    Sorry if it didn't help

I have same problem with "contact Itunes supports" when applied free apple ID for US App store, due to I am in Taiwan, I can apply free Apple ID for TW App store without any problem.  I heard that apple start check user IP address. So if your IP address is not in US then you can not apply free apple ID for US App,

    1. Go the app store

    2. Hit cancel when it asks you to sign in (If it doesn't, continue to step 3)

    3. Find a free app and try to download it

    4.  you to sign in option will appear, it will ask you if you want to use existing ID or create a new apple id. SELECT CREATE NEW APPLE ID

    5. Follow the steps and when it gets to the stage it asks you for your card info, Choose 'None'

    6. Full in all you name and address etc... And click next.

    7. Verify your email and Enjoy downloading FREE apps

    8. Say thank you as I do appreciate your love :)

I am in Taiwan, I have same problem to applied US App store free AppleID as follow message.

"Please contact Itunes support to complete

    this transaction."

But after use proxPN to pretend  my Taiwan IP address as US IP address, and apply again, now I can apply US App store free AppleID without any problem.  If you are in US then your IP address should be ok, except you are outside US, then you need VPN to connect US App store through US IP address.
