Yes, albums. I synchronised then through iTunes and they are on my phone, I can use them but when I plug my phone they take space on the phone but are not visible for any of the applications.
As far as I know, non-Apple apps on iOS are only able to access Camera Roll and PhotoStream. Any photos that are in albums are not accessible by non-Apple apps.
If you synchronized photos through iTunes, then the photos are somewhere on your computer. Syncing them to the phone does not delete them, so they should still be on your computer. I cannot help you find them unless you give me complete details about your system (operating system, what photo application you're using, what version of iTunes, etc.).
Iphoto Dude.
Try restarting your mac, it worked for me!
Super easy!! Open the Image Capture application on your Mac (just type Image Capture into the magnifying glasss icon window at the top right corner of the screen to find it), check the box at the bottom left whether you want to delete photos after import or not, select where you want to import the photos to in the pulldown menu at the bottom and voila!
I prefer using the application "Image Capture". easiest and most straightforward for me personally. And as far as I know it comes preinstalled on Macs. Go to applications or do a search on your comp

Hi all, Thanks to yourself and everyone that tried and helped me solve my problem. It is now fixed. Thanks again. Ron :-)
I have copied photos from an iPhone to iPhoto on Mac. From itunes, I cannot find a folder to sync to that has any photos in it.
( I am new new to Mac and the lack of control is killing me. I am sure it is learning curve...but it is still killing me.)
Thank you in advance for any help.
What are you trying to do? It's not clear from your comment.
Perhaps learning how to use use iPhoto and iTunes would help? There are good guides on Apple's support pages:

Hi Paul, soryy about this , You solved my problem but I'm still getting emails with answers and I don't know how to stop it, I think at the time I may not have clicked on 'this solves my problem' is it too late to do that now, and how to. Thanks and sorry again if this is an inappropiate place to ask for help. Ron :-)
To stop getting email, log into the discussions forum. On the top of the right-hand column you should see "Actions", and under that is a link to "Stop email notifications". Click it and you should stop getting email.

If you have a Mac, you can import photos from your iOS device using iPhoto.
1. Connect the device to your computer. iPhoto should automatically open its import window and show your device's images and videos.
If iPhoto doesn't open, you might need to turn the option on.
2. Click Import All. Or if you want to import specific items, select those images and videos, then click Import Selected. After your photos import, a dialog will ask you if you want to delete the original photos from your Camera Roll.
3. Choose Delete Photos or Keep Photos.
If you delete photos after you import them, you can reduce the size of your Camera Roll and improve backup and restore times.
If you want to import the photos to additional computers, keep your photos.
