is it ok to turn off my macbook pro 2011

It's ok to turn off your macbook if you're not using it for a period of time. Just make sure the battery is not fully discharged when you do so.

I turn my off when i know i won't be using it for the day.

You can however, just close your lid if you plan on using your macbook a few hours later.

Ummm...computers have been turning off and on for a couple decades now, and I don't think the option to turn it off would even be present if it wasn't okay.
