Lion os x install

I'm trying to load the Lion os x disc that came with my Mac on a differant Mac and I'm wondering whats suppost to happen. I put the disc in and it started spinning it asked do you want to install and I click OK then it said shutting down to install then the reboot window came up and its been on for like 30 mins now just wondering if this is normal and if so how long should this take ?
