Error 8324 with app update

I'm trying to download a app update "PDX BUS" and I repeatedly get error 8324. It instructs me to "Use the Check for Available Downloads command in the Store menu to download again later" the result is "All purchase have been downloaded for this acount."

It's a free app, should I delete it and "buy" it again?

The interesting and most confusing variable concerning this error is that (in my case, at least) I was able to update the offending apps directly on my iOS devices even though they weren't able to download via iTunes.

OfficeDrop, iStanford and LA Times all had no problems downloading and installing on my iPad and iPhone, whereas they still won't update in iTunes 24 hours later. (So it's not the files. It's the delivery mechanism.)

This speaks poorly of QA, the iTunes group or the communications between them. The rumor is iTunes is undergoing a massive rewrite for iOS 6, but I thought most of those changes had already been rolled out.

I had lunch at Apple the other day and the campus is sorely overcrowded. People are sitting 2-3 per cubicle and there is construction all around, which I'm sure doesn't help concentration one bit. I also note that workloads are demanding and there are thousands of job requisitions waiting to be filled. It's a good time to be Apple.

Don't know the ETA for the new "spaceship" campus, but it can't come soon enough.

no you can't sync your phone with your friends iTunes account 😉 ... but your friend can give you the app file (*.ipa located on your had disk) ... you can then paste it where it should be located in your system:

on Windows:

c:\your username\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Mobile Applications

ps: this will of course only work if you own the app already.

If you select an app in iTunes and choose "Get Info" from the File menu, you'll see that each app is registered to the person that owns it. You cannot simply copy a file from your friend even if you also paid for that file. The ipa file is going to contain his ownership data and not your own.

If you are simply restoring an ipa from a backup or some other means, you can either drag it directly into iTunes or "~/Music/iTunes/Mobile Applications". Can't remeber that path? Right-click on any other app within iTunes and select "Show In Finder".

Here is the "Supreme iTunes Store Support Team Idiot" award for this week:

Along with probably half the world, we've been encountering this problem here in NZ for the past few days. It's actually wrecked one ipad business app completely. So yesterday I logged a support ticket with the iTunes support desk. The reply? Look at this:

This is Apple's own support desk, not only declining to comment or resolve the issue, but simply referring the user to a forum where numerous users are registering their frustration on encountering the same problem!
