Hi Patrick70
I will leave you a very brief answer for now, rather an Apple support article. http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3048
Please report details on what you tried so far. Do consider reading the entire article at a comfortable pace so that you don't miss anyting relevant.
I can offer that my magic mouse and wireless keyboard do on rare occassions lose connectivity but the frequency is vert low.
Also, I would politely recommend that you run Apple Software Update from the Apple menu. I don't know if your system is all uptodate. I doubt this is the issue though.
I know I haven't provided a lot of substance here but I hope the link I provided at the top is proves resourceful.
I'm having the same intermitent connection issue. I read the article you linked to, as well as TS2662. Here is what I have tried:
Updated MAC (currently 10.8.1)
Replaced Magic Mouse batteries
Added Magic Mouse to Bluetooth favorites
Disconnected / reconnected Magic Mouse
Restarted MAC
Prayed
Confessed my sins
Repented
It still loses connection every 20 to 30 minutes. Any other ideas? Someone named Barry in another thread mentioned resetting PRAM and SMC, but since I don't know what those are I can't.
well i have to ask if you are using rechargeable batteries ? they can get to not working right. have you put in a set of regular batteries to see if the disconnets goes away.
Hi Donald. I have not gotten rechargeable batteries for my Magic Mouse. In my former PC life (..."hi my name is Mike and I was a Microholic), rechargeable were rarely recommended. Now that I have seen the MAC light, I notice that rechargeables are much more common. Is there a "better' brand of rechargeable out there?
Hi Mike
I just want to offer my two cents worth. I purchased two of the apple rechargable battery kits for two macs in the house. They might be a little more expensive but I have had other brand chargers. Firstly, the thing is tiny, it houses two batteries and they charge very quickly compared to other comparbly priced rechatgeables. Some extra batteries are included in the kits
I am very satisfied with the Apple branded rechargeable battery kit. Of course it can charge other branded rechargeable batteries as well. 🙂
Thanks for allowing me to interject.
Two bits of folded foil under the battery + end to ensure the batteries are very tight. It worked for me!

If you have to be adding tin foil then it can only mean that your magic mouse is faulty or not correctly assembled or it was dropped (accidental damage)
If you have applecare or it is less than a year old, and something is physically wrong with the mouse, (that's how I see it) — give them a call.
Hiya, thank you for the advice. I've had the MM for over two years without a hitch and it's never been dropped. It started losing connection about a month ago. I note from the group that it's a common problem. \\
I was surprised to see from a couple of comments that battery sizes differ, hence the possible problem with the MM connection, I picked up the foil suggestion from this group. And it works. No disconnections. I have no idea why these things happen. I've been using Macs for over 20 years, mostly without a hitch. So now I'm hostage to fortune.
Hey you all. I'm recently retired and a brand new Mac user after using PC since day one. I apologize in advance for the mega ignorance I will display in future discussions. I truly appreciate sarcasm and would enjoy it mucho if those who answer my questions would include clever sarcasm of me in your replies. My question ; Why is my Logitech remote mouse not recognized until I remove and reinsert the thingamajiggy into my Macbook Pro port each time I use it after Mac sleeps? Thanks!

finally took apart second mouse to fail its a defect the positive side of the battery compartment has only one little heat stake holding the contact in place both of mine were broken on two previous magic mice. Allows the contact to move freely and intermittant battery loss with little movement of mouse, poor manufacturing design see picture
guess if they last through warranty apple is happy, i'm on third one. using trackpad to supplement when it goes out.
