Siri for iPad 2 in iOS 6

I settled to Siri not coming to iPad 2 the other day after reading Deggie's posted article along with some additional reading. I understand it. It's just the way that it is and I apologize for being overbearing. For the record I respect anyone who feels passionate about something. I think debates are necessary and I have no issue with being wrong and shown otherwise. I simply don't have respect for people who insult purely for the purpose of being insulting. That's when I get annoyed, as shown previously. As for Apple, I won't bother writing to the CEO on this topic as I do admit that they make a nice product. There is no doubt that they changed the way we use mobile devices. I use my iphone and ipad daily for leisure and work. It certainly is fun to use and makes my life easier. But it enfuriates me when a company reaches a pinnacle in success and still chooses the same old business model and does the same old thing. Apple needs to consider their human side and learn from the mistakes (arrogance) of other fallen tech giants such as RIM and Nokia (and Microsoft, although they seem to be learning). Only then will I consider the company, along with their products to be truly revolutionary.

The author of that MacWorld article is just flat wrong. Apple has clearly stated that Siri will be available in iOS 6 only for the iPhone 4s and new iPad, not the iPad 2. Quoting from this web page:

I don't know how it can be more clear than that and why there continues to be question about this.

Do you mean to tell me that the iPhone 4S has the A5X with those specifications? I can tell you it doesn't. I think the real reason rests with the microphone. The iPhone 4S has built in noise cancelling technology and the iPad 2 doesnt. The iPad three does have it, in addition to the latest and greatest chip.

There can be 3 reasons:

1. Before the launch of the new iPad, everyone was talking about "iPad 3" getting Siri and after all it didn't get it.

2. iPad 2 isn't a lot different from the new iPad. It's actually lighter, thinner, the only minuses are worse screen and A5. And on the top of it, at the release of the new iPad iPad 2 got $100 cheaper. So people bought it instead of the new one. I think Apple wanted to tell people that didn't upgrade to iPad yet: "If you get the new iPad, you get Siri."

3. Processor

ya..when i got my ipad2 the next week the new ipad came.bad luck for me i think.and i beg apple to install siri on ios6 on ipad2

It's almost certainly never going to happen. The iPad 2 lacks a special noise-cancelling circuit present only on the iPhone 4S and new iPad, circuitry that Apple apparently feels necessary for Siri to operate properly.

Well f you search for iOS 6 in google and click on the apple link it tells the compatible devices. The 3 latest iphones iPad 2 and The New iPad.

Sigh; I don't know why this continues to be a question when Apple has stated the situation with complete clarity. If you actually look at Apple's web pages, not some Google condensation or what it says on some other web site, Apple says clearly that Siri will be available only on the iPhone 4S and new iPad. Yes, iOS 6 itself will work on additional devices, but not Siri.

Yes, that's true. However, Siri is will only be available on the new iPad and the iPhone 4S.

Ipad cannot do all the things which iphone can do and more over siri is still in a beta version

Not to go all old school, but recall that Siri was developed for older apple iphones, and was going to be fore black berry and droid phones as well.

I get that what you get is what you pay fo,r but in the world of software thats not always true, its not impossible to add feature/functionality to a device that didnt ship with it. Noise-cencelling mics or special 'x' model A5 chips?. The point is the software worked on previsous generation devices, the reason they dont now isn't really technical, its marketing, which is just a choice Apple had to make. make it what they wanted, ovver a possibly lesser robust feature on earlier platforms or not at all. Looks like they chose not at all. I wouldn't be my choice but it all comes down to marketing.

Actually it is both. Apple bought Siri, which was an okay application but on the iPhone background noise greatly interfered with the accuracy. So Apple also bought Audience and used their technology in the chipset on the iPhone 4s for noise cancellation. Made a great improvement on the iPhone end while they were also making improvements on the server side.

Those are both pretty technical reasons as you cannot go back and put in the Audience technology via software. And I've used a jailbroken iPhone 4 with Siri, was not anywhere close to as accurate as the 4s.

Frankly I am not terribly worried about it since my experiences with Siri have left me more chuckling than impressed. I know its in there and it WILL get better but its not there yet.

Still I think my statement that it can and perhaps should be beta'd on other model devices (my ipad 2, iphone 4 and 3gs for example) to make the experience better. If we lived in an all hardware world, there wouldnt be a AppStore right? to add additional functionality to our devices.
