Honestly, there's lots to like about Logic Pro X. I was cautious at first, but the additional features like Flex Pitch, MIDI FX, and track stacks are very cool. There's also a new handy Quick Help feature too!

Hey, I completely agree, it's a very cool upgrade, and it's also obviously NOT Garageband Pro as many feared it might be. I downloaded the hi-res pics and i think 99% of Logic's power users will feel very comfortable with Logic X. I also checked out the tutotials... nice work!

I am dissapointed it requires 10.8.4. Apple tried to do this not letting Logic 8 run on Lion and Mountain Lion, which was a separate issue from not being able to install Logic 8. After many complaints.. lo and behold Logic 8 even runs with no issues on Mountain Lion. Mainly dissapointed that Apple stong arms their latest OS (and for some, hardware) on it's users.

p.s. I'm also a long time Cubase user and the some (all) of the above features you've mentioned have been in Cubase for 2-3 years so it's nothing new hew although I'm sure the Logic programmers have their own expert take on implementation.

Me too, I don't see it...and this is big for me...it's been requested for years.

I don't think it's there. I'm hope I'm wrong and have just missed the obvious (wouldn't be the first time), but I've tried every key-mouse-drag combo I can think of, and read through the online help and can't find a way to do it.

As I'm digging around, this really does look like a fairly superficial update - not much seems to have changed under the hood. If you open the Environment, it's still even in the old UI style. And the massively annoying hard-coded Stereo Output "feature" is still there, which has immediately removed any sense of joy that I may have had this morning.

Some of the workflow improvements are quite nice, and I'm sure all the new instrument stuff is lovely (I don't use instruments much though). Track stacks look neat and I like that Flex Pitch is in there (though I'll probably stick with Melodyne). I do really like that we have non-destructive audio editing at last.

It's not what I was hoping for, but it does at least look like everything is still intact. I just hope it's stable.

Definitely passing on this one then and continuing my migration over to PT11 now with their new features.

I simply can't stand not being able to move the mixer channels around, and the major annoyance of having Logic ask me if I'm sure I want to delete something from the Arrange window when editing. Slows things down immensely. Not to mention the 80s RECORDING PROGRESS BAR lol. Maybe they changed some of that stuff.

Only feature that looks great to me is the Track Stack thing, and I like the new UI look.

Then you have the most unique copy of Logic in the entire world 😉

No pref that I can find. I think what happens is, it will allow you to delete regions up until the final instance of the audio file on the timeline. So I think what it is, is if I slice a guitar part up into 3 regions, I can delete two, but the last one it will ask. Ridiculous. Shouldn't ask unless I'm deleting them from the bin, not the TIMELINE for heaven's sake lol
