Blu-ray media - 6X work in 12X drive?

There are 12X internal Blu-ray drives out for the Mac and I need to pick one up, but there isn't any 12X media that I can find. The fastest I found is 6X.

Does that rating actually mean anything?

If anyone has experience creating Blu-ray discs with Final Cut Pro X or Compressor, I would greatly appreciate any tips or advice.

Thank you! 🙂

Thanks, Ian.

What I'm asking is can you burn a 6X disc at 12X speeds? I'm wondering if that rating on the blank media really means anything at all. I used to know the answer to this question in regards to DVD discs, but I forgot.

What I found on the web are different opinions on this, but 6X will burn at 12X speed, it's just the manufacturer won't gaurantee it (I've never seen anyone actually act on a gurantee for a failed disc 🙂 )
