Why is iTunes cutting off the end of songs previously purchased?

I've recently bought a new MacBook Pro and transferred my songs from iTunes on my old MacBook to the new one.

iTunes seems to be cutting off the end of some of the songs. These songs were purchased a number of years ago on another machine and with a different Apple ID but I've authorised for them to be played on my new computer. It can vary from a few seconds up to about a minute. I've gone on 'Get Info' and it's not stopping them playing that way. I have absolutely no idea why it is and it's so frustrating because I can listen to parts of songs I've spent hard earned cash on!

Any idea on what the problem is or how I can fix it? The songs seem to play fine on my iPod and iPhone but I havne't sycned them with the new computer yet (and they used to play fine on my old MacBook). Please help!

I just found and tried this on two of the tracks that were stopping with about 40 seconds left and it appears to have fixed the problem. Am waiting for iTunes match to update to see if the songs revert back to cutting off early.

SOLVED.

For a purchased song from iTunes that wont play all the way through, I did this:

Deleted the file from iTunes, including iCloud (if you have it)

Went back to trash and removed it to the desktop and re-added it back into iTunes.

File that did play only 1:23 of 3:00 mins now plays all the way through without skipping ahead/cutting off the rest of the song.

Synced re-imported song back to iPod and it plays perfectly. Can't believe this hasnt been figured out yet! Or even Apple support suggesting this.

The hard part is figuring out which songs do this as I only discovered the tracks by random shuffle and thought wth? Why wont it finish playing? Good luck guys. Hope this helps.

Did you notice if the problem was with imported tracks or purchased only tracks? It seems all mine were purchased tracks from the iTunes store with the extension .m4p

I bought a new MacBook in March and have similar problems since. EXCEPT -- in my case, the song play just fine on the MacBook but are getting cut off on my iPhone 4. The songs were playing just fine on my iPhone and my old iMac before I "upgraded" to MacBook and started using iTunes Match. Some of the songs that are cut off are songs that have been matched through Match; some are not. The iTunes Helpdesk hasn't been able to help, nor has the Genius Bar of my local Apple store. At the Apple store, we tested my iTunes account with another iOS device; same problem. Clearly, my iPhone is not the problem. I have deleted my entire library and redownloaded it more than once, and it hasn't helped. I've got a library of about 2900 songs, and I'm estimated that 10-15% of my songs are impacted. If I have to do a manual delete and add for each song, it could take a while. Arrgghh.

As a DJ, you can imagine how critically bad this is for me. What I want to know is: why do songs that used to work fine suddenly stop halfway through? And some are getting shorter!! I would expect this witha Windows PC, but nothing like this has ever happened to me, using Macs since 1984. Apple is not what it used to be...

I have thousands of songs, most of which are purchased from iTunes, and none of the ones I've imported from my CD collection have this issue.

Booo!

**Try this: in iTunes, ctrl-click a song that's getting cut off, select "Show in Finder" and then drag it to the desktop. Open a Finder window and select that song in pane view, and click the "play" arrow button and listen to the song IN ITS ENTIRETY via the finder! So, it must be iTunes!

What. The. Heck??
