macbook pro contra macbook air

Macbook pro(2.6GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor,8GB,516 Flash memory) contra Macbook Air(1.8 GHz Intel Core i7,4GB,256 flash memory):

i like to know if the new macbook pro is much much faster in downloading and processing from cd cards. and if corrections are applied within "lightroom" is there a visible difference of speed between the two laptops.is the speed of processing much faster with the picture files?

More then likely as the MBP has a much faster CPU in it. Wouldn't you think?

is it maybe better to get a 7200 rpm than a solid state drive and a thunderbold ext harddrive? i need speed and i have to move, process and remove lot of data. one picture e.g. has 320 GB. and i move lots of them.
