Did you find that once you have sync'd all contacts you can turn calender sync back on and all works ok? ie. it works with smaller set of changes better.

Now you mention it, I think I did the same with my N80, though it was awhile ago and was a prototype, so I put it down to an issue with the SyncML client on the phone...

Anyways... I'm glad that it's working. 🙂

never mind.. while it stops having System Errors, with 10.4.7 it just RANDOMLY decides how many contacts to sync

I keep getting this error from iSync:

Wednesday, August 2, 2006 1:19 PM
[::N80 ::] There was an error pushing some changes to the phone. The synchronization may have been cancelled on the phone.
Device ":: N80 ::" synchronization failed

I did a low level reformat of my N80 this morning ( Deep Reset (*#7370#) ) and re-did the Pairing, etc. The first time I had hope, the N80 said it was receiving all 632 contacts from my Mac. It then stalled at 380. iSync then finished, et voila.

I've tried 4 more times to sync (merge) and each time I get different amount of contacts on my N80, always around 380..

COME ON APPLE (or Nokia.. ) DO SOMETHING ALREADY!!!!! It was working fine in 10.4.6!!!!!

My problem too. I could not synch the calendar at all until I unchecked the contacts. It would randomly select some of the contacts and then fail. I finally gave up and made a special Nokia list with the most critical contacts.

Hi All,

WOW! This is a GREAT thread (as most are very helpful here) but I did have a question on the metaclasses file.

I've got the gist of what needs to be done and downloaded the file, but can't find where you guys are changing or modifying the script. Are you doing it from the Terminal or from Finder? Although I can generally understand code, I don't know where this file is to add/modify.

GREAT THREAD! Thanks!

You can find the location by opening the Package Contents of iSynch (click iSynch once while holding down the control key) and getting down several layers to the PhoneModelsSynch.phone plugin/Content/Resources. The file belongs in that Resources folder. The suggested edits to the MetaClasses.plist file are simple and I used TextEdit to make the changes (saved a duplicate copy to the desktop and used TextEdit from there). HOWEVER no matter what I do to that .plist file I still get the error message and am not sure all my contacts got transferred. Had the same problem with the NovaMedia Plugin only worse. Anyone who has solved that problem of the Synching aborting please let me know.

One suggestion made on the board is that you only sync contacts first and then calender second by selecting the various check boxes in iSync.

A workaround of syncing using a smaller group of contacts that you want on the phone also works and instead of all contacts.

Another possible workaround if you your contacts on previous Nokia phone that is sync'd is using the N80 'Transfer' program to sync the contacts from old phone to new phone before syncing with iSync means less data to sync and avoids the failure.

Above is how i migrate from one s60 phone to the next. I have around 250 contacts.

Hope this helps 🙂
