AirPort Extreme: Device not found when connected to the AirPort Extreme

So, this is an odd one: I am connected to the wireless network (and Internet) through my AirPort Extreme. When I go to the AirPort Utility, however, it shows that the AirPort Extreme is a "device not connected." But it must be; otherwise, I couldn't even send this message on my MacBook Air or watch Netflix wirelessly on my Apple TV.

This is unfortunately not the first time I have seen this issue with the router. In the past I have just unplugged the Extreme and plugged it back in. There should be, however, no reason to do this.

It's from 2010, so it's out of warranty, and Apple won't officially provide support for it. I've believed it's a lemon before though, so this doesn't shock me. It is up-to-date with firmware and such.

Any ideas?

Thank you.

Likewise I've been experiencing the same issue - December 2016.

The Apple Extreme is only about 6 months old but has just started to show the Device not found in Apple Utility warning. A reset will bring it back but then it reverts back to the warning triangle (!). As others have said I still have an internet connection despite the device not found. All my devices; iPhone, MacBook, Mac Pro show the same error in Apple Utility so it's not a device specific issue but more likely to be an issue with the AE.

I haven't found any solutions online that show how to resolve. Has anybody had any success?

I am running a 4th Gen Time Capsule with 7.6.7 firmware and just purchased an Airport Extreme with 7.7.7 firmware to extend my network into another building. I was having all of these same issues with setup. Within a few minutes of adding the AE to my network I was getting the yellow triangle. Through troubleshooting with Apple Tech Support he determined that the equipment must be defective. I returned it and got a new one - sure enough - same issues. I found this thread and went looking and my issue appears to be that the Time Capsule and Airport Extreme were both set up for BTMM access. Once i removed the BTMM access on the AE, I verified that it was still set up in the TC and all is well now. Green lights on all devices and Airport Utility 6.3.7 is showing all devices with green status buttons!

Thank you guys so much for resolving this immense frustration!!

Thank you Navneet!

Followed your directions and was able to re-establish my AirPort Express with my AirPort Extreme network. When you say 'configure' you are talking about working with the AirPort Express. Same with 'under wifi'. At first I was not certain if you meant to do this with the Extreme but it became obvious to me to work with the Express to make the two changes.
