Intel Processor Preference Pane

I recently purchased a Macbook Pro. When I first turned it on and looked at the preferences, there was an Intel CPU preference Pane. (Where you could turn off one core and see the load of the CPUs.

I had a problem with the migration of my user over and decided to re-install. I chose to re-install everything from the 2 disks that came with my laptop..

Now when I look at the preferences, I don't see the CPU PrefPane.. Any clue where I can get that?

Macbook Pro 2.16, Mac OS X (10.4.5)

That's odd. I haven't seen that preference on the MacBook Pros in the Apple Store. Though assuming it is there, it is something that could probably be extracted from the installation disks with http://www.charlessoft.com/ 's Pacifist.

Note, you'll find Preference Panes in System -> Library -> PreferencePanes

Hi,

The developer tools come with a preference pane for the CPU on the PowerPC models. I'm guessing it's the same for the intel models - did you install the developer tools during the re-install?

On some Macs I've seen the Developer Tools Installer is on the Installers folder inside the Applications folder.

I have upgraded my mini1,25 to a new intel version 1,66 but now i cannot install any preference pane!!!! they install but could never been opened, this programm might not be used on this machine or something. I have other keyboard and mouse (microsoft) but also dockextender and mysql won't open in preference Pane.

Only Universal (or Intel only) preference panes work on the new Intel Macs.

Hi, I have an Intel iMac and i've read on a review sight that theres an option to turn of one of the processors in a system preference 'processor pane' but i can't seem to find it. should I have one or is it only on intel laptops?

It wasn't really a case of wanting to toggle processors, I just wanted to make sure i wasn't missing a panel from my system preferences. I'd seen on a review website that they had tested an old G5 against and intel G5 and had used something in the processor preference pane on the intel mac

the processor prefpane is installed if you install the chud tools that's part of the xcode tools install. not ppc dependent (running on intel mac), not so mysterious 🙂
