Safari won't load certain websites

When I use Safari 5.0.6 on my MacBook running Mac OS X 10.5.8, various websites will not load. Some will load fine, like the home page of New York Times. However, if I select an article, it won't load. If I try to load google search, it may take several minutes to come up. my.yahoo page will NOT load forever and ever. When I state that it 'doesn't load' I mean that you'll see the address in the address bar and halfway thru that will be a blue progress bar. It just sits there like that and doesn't ever finish loading. If I try the same pages on Firefox, I have no problems at all. I have run the ClamXAV to make sure it's not a virus and it found nothing. I'm not sure what's going on. I have tried resetting Safari and clearing the cache and whatnot, but it made no difference. I tried allowing pop-ups. No change. This has been going on awhile and it's just irritating. Any suggestions?

I appeared to have the problem where my IMAC would not load certain websites but was fine on others. I took advice from various forums, disabled Safari add-ons, cleared all history and cache and disabled DNS prefetching, all to no avail.

I then tried my old WIN 7 PC and an IPAD and found exactly the same problem. I discussed it with Plusnet's helpdesk, they were mystified but suggested I try a different router. I did this and all the problems went away!

I thought I would post MY solution. I tried all of the previous solutions posted around the web and nothing worked.

It all started when I upgraded to Mavericks. [I run a few OS versions behind to keep compatible with all of my Audio/Video hardware, software, plugins, etc.]

- Try a new user account to test

- Disable plugins/extensions in Safari

- Start up in SAFE mode

- Restart my Apple Airport

- Config a new LOCATION in NETWORK

- Check and test ALL settings in NETWORK

- Reinstall Mavericks

Nothing worked to fix just 1 website that was not loading for me. All other sites work fine.

So the missing link? I have 2 Apple Airport devices. The main unit and one in EXTEND mode. I turned off the extend unit and it worked, slowly of course, because of the distance to the main unit. I then plugged the extend unit back in and all is well.

I still don't under stand why only ONE website did not load. I hope this helps someone else. Took me 24 hrs at this computer over 3 days to figure this out.

I'm having the same problem as others mentioned here but it seems only to affect the nytimes web page so far. That is, the home page loads fine in safari, but none of the links work at all. Each time I select a link, I get a CFNetwork Error 303. In Chrome, the nytimes pages typically hang, though sometimes they will load if I hit the reload button enough. Other websites do not seem to be affected.

This all happened after I loaded the new flash update. I've tried all the solutions listed above but none seem to work. If anybody has any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it.

In my case:

1. Safari won't load some websites

2. Mac App Store won't load images.

3. Some apps would fail to connect to the internet.

I tried the DNS, IPV6 methods, PRAM reset but nothing worked. Instead I did the following:

System Preferences > Network > Wi-Fi > Advanced > Proxies.

My system was configured to use Web Proxy(http) at 127.0.0.1. Disabling this solved the issue for me.User uploaded file

How did you load a new Flash Update? Were you promoted to do so when you visited a web site and elected to download the update or did you go to get.adobe.com/flashplayer and download it or use System Preferences->FlashPlayer. You should never download an update from an arbitrary web page as that is almost certainly some type of malware (usually just annoying adware). Run MalwareBytes Anti-Malware for Mac to see if you did.
