Hi Guys, the same just happened to me, updating a lion to mavericks (my fathar mac).
I update a lot of mac (of friends and mine) from various version of MAC OS, from snow leopard to mountain lion.
Buti I got this problem moving from lion to Mavericks.
This evening my father ask me "where are my photos ?"
I started thinking:
1. the iphoto version he had doesn't work with maverick (it was the 9.0), it already happened to me with an "old" snow leopard, iphoto didn't start cause it popped up "the version wan not compatible".
So I updated iphoto, but I discovered that when I start the 9.5 version it asks me for locating iphoto gallary, who's actually gone.
Obivously we don't get time machine back up (I buy for my father a HD just few days ago to make him start to use it).
So I undestand we are doomed.
There were no user errors, (Larry), I simply updated the MAC OS and the library was gone, it's my fault cause I got tu back up everything first, but mavericks was the first update working smoothly with every version and with no problems.
I think something happend but I really can't undestand what.
My father is one of the basic mac user that don't even now where "picuters folder" is, cause photos are inside iphoto. So it's impossible he deleted it, he has no capability to find it and deleted it.
It disappeared, that's all.
And this very likely an apple fault.. that is carried out since a long time as I can see finding these posts.
We need to be helped out in locating the orginal folder who's missing.
Could really data rescue software find a folder who's never been erased ?
thanks for help
Roby
