Converting .caf to .aiff

I need to change some .caf stereo 96/24 masters to .aiff ...

I have tried to simply change the suffix from .caf to .aiff and that seems to work. The two files sound the same on my hi-end monitoring system, but I still wonder if there is any difference in the audio data at all and if the .aiff will work like other .aiffs on different systems?

Anyone know definitively if one can just simple change the .caf suffix to .aiff (in osx 10.7.4) and rest assured the .aiff file will be exactly the same audio data and work just like any other good .aiff should, or do I need to re-master to .aiff?

Thanks!

Logic Studio, Mac OS X (10.7.4)
