Want reliable WiFi with retina Macbook pro? Turn off bluetooth!

Bluetooth and WiFi only work together on my retina MBP when I have a very strong WiFi signal indeed. At even around 60% signal strength if both are on WiFi can drop out. At 40% strength there is no hope of getting WiFi if bluetooth is on. Swithch off bluetooth and WiFi is just fine.

In the middle signal strength zone I find that when it works WiFi is abiout 10% of the speed it should be if bluetooth is on.

This is using WiFi 'n'. Perhaps different with b / g - I have not tested myself.

I noice that individually both bluetooth and WiFi reception seem very strong on the retina MBP

Is this hardware or software or some combination? How likely is a software update to fix this? Does everyone have this problem or just some users.

MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012), Mac OS X (10.7.4)

Sure thing. How many examples would you like? Let's start with one.

Look at the HP Envy line of notebooks.

...[blah, blah, blah]...

Then of course if looks are all you care about buy another MBP.

I suggest you take it back because simply it is not RIGHT.

That is your opinion. You seem to have a difficult time of grasping the concept of a technical support forum. People come here to get their issues resolved. Not to "take it back because simply it is not RIGHT."

Do you guys have a dual band wireless router that you can test your MBPr with ? If you hold down the option key and click on the WiFI Menu Extra, note down the channel number. (If this is between channe 1 and 11, then you are on the 2.4 Ghz network).

Bluetooth should only affect 2.4 Ghz, so if you have a dual band router and you use the 5 Ghz network to connect your WiFi network, you should not see this issue happening anymore.

But if you do see the issue when using a 5 Ghz network too, then this has nothing to do with Bluetooth.

You are right, but you will not be able to use iPad and iPhone whitch operate in 2.4Ghz mode. That means you always have to switch the router, this would be nonsense. Its clearly a rMBP problem and this is not a long term solution.

While am waiting mine to come, i hope not to have this problem...
