My Macbook Pro battery.

My Macbook Pro battery stays at 31 Degrees Celsius even when the house is at room temperature. The Macbook Pro is heating up evidently inside, but not from the exterior. Even many miliampere-hours have been reduced for the current battery health. 1 week.I'm not sure if this my fault, or a defect in battery. The battery life is just decreasing by 1 percent per charge, and I'm not confident that the battery will be sustained for a year of use. I'm scared, and I must exchange the Macbook Pro or take it into warranty.

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.4), It has only been a week, and upset.

I'm just upset that 266 milliampere-hours have been decreased from design capacity.

The "design capacity" number is a target value. No two new batteries have exactly the same initial capacity at the time of their manufacture. Your actual capacity might be MORE than the target, as is my 13-inch MBP that I bought in June:

My old 2007 MBP was slightly under the average value for its version but was within a percent or so. And it wasn't a battery that killed it off.

If you buy an automobile that is rated at 200 horsepower and had a test machine that could measure HP precisely, you would find that your engine might put out 202HP or maybe 197HP. Same thing--allowable manufacturing tolerances. They surround you every day, from the pencil you use for writing to the jumbo jet that safely wisks you though the skies. If allowable manufacturing tolerences make you nervous, you will not have a happy life!
